T20 World Cup, AFG vs AUS: This is not an upset, Australia has been defeated, says Indian legend

New Delhi. Australia’s defeat to Afghanistan in the ICC T20 World Cup is being discussed everywhere. It is being considered the biggest upset in the history of the tournament. At the same time, Indian veterans are not considering it an upset, rather they say that the Australian team has been defeated after planning. Mohammad Kaif gave the credit to Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan for winning against the Kangaroo team by making a brilliant plan.

After losing the first Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup against India, the Afghanistan team was under pressure. Rashid Khan’s team registered a historic victory against a strong team like Australia which was undefeated in the tournament so far. After losing the toss, the Afghan team scored 148 runs for 6 wickets on the basis of fifties by openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran. After this, Australia’s team collapsed at 127 runs in front of the deadly bowling of Naveen Ul Haq, Gulbadin Naik and captain Rashid Khan.

Kaif said, this is not a reversal

Indian legend Mohammad Kaif has described Afghanistan’s victory as the result of their hard work and better planning. He said on Star Sports, “This is not an upset. The Australian team did not lose but they were defeated by planning. Rashid Khan made a special plan and made Naveen Ul Haq bowl against opener Travis Head, which resulted in a wicket.”

He further said, “When everyone felt that Gulbadin Naib should not be given bowling, he was put on the attack. This was also Rashid Khan’s plan which benefited him tremendously. Naib is not a new player, he has a lot of experience and that is why he was successful in taking 4 wickets. The credit for this victory of the team should be given to the brilliant captaincy of Rashid Khan.”
