New Delhi. Bangladesh defeated Netherlands by 25 runs in the 27th match of T20 World Cup 2024. With this win, Bangladesh team has come closer to entry in Super 8. This is Bangladesh’s second win in 3 matches. With 4 points, Bangladesh has strengthened its position at number two in Group D. South Africa has already entered Super 8 with 6 points from this group. Chasing the target of 160 runs set by Bangladesh, the Netherlands team could score only 134 runs for 8 wickets. Veteran Shakib Al Hasan played an important role in this victory, who scored his first fifty in T20 International cricket after almost 2 years.

Netherlands did not have a good start while chasing the target. Netherlands suffered the first blow at a score of 22. Taskin Ahmed sent Michael Levitt to the pavilion at a personal score of 18. Max O’Dowd also returned to the pavilion early. Dowd scored 12 runs. Vikramjit Singh was stumped by wicketkeeper Liton Das on Mahmudullah’s ball. Earlier, Bangladesh scored 159 runs for 5 wickets with Shakib Al Hasan’s unbeaten half-century. Shakib played an unbeaten innings of 64 runs with 9 fours in 46 balls. He shared 48 runs for the third wicket with opener Tanjid Hasan (35) and 41 runs for the fifth wicket with Mahmudullah (25) to take Bangladesh to a challenging score. For the Netherlands, fast bowler Paul van Meekeren and off-spinner Aryan Dutt (2 wickets) bowled economically and took two wickets each.

Mahmudullah completed the team’s century in the 14th over with a four off de Leede. He then hit a six off Van Beek as well and then increased the run rate with sixes and fours off consecutive balls of Pringle. Shakib completed his 13th half-century in 38 balls with a run off Van Meekeren. Mahmudullah, however, got caught by Engelbrecht on the next ball. Zakir Ali (14 not out) hit three fours off Van Beek in the 19th over while Shakib took the team’s score past 150 with two consecutive fours off de Leede.
