BJP performed phenomenally in Odisha Assembly Elections 2024. BJP succeeded in overthrowing Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal government which was in power for 26 years. Now preparations are being made to form the BJP government. The swearing-in ceremony of the cabinet including the Chief Minister is likely to be held on June 10, in which the top leadership of BJP including PM Narendra Modi can also attend.

Preparations are in full swing for the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of the BJP government being formed for the first time in Odisha. Janata Maidan is being decorated for the swearing-in ceremony. 30,000 people including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah will attend the ceremony. The swearing-in ceremony will be held on June 10. The BJP high command has sent a panel of three leaders to Odisha for government formation. These include Madhya Pradesh minister Vishwas Sarang, Bhopal MP Alok Sharma and BJP leader Lokendra Parashar. A decision on who will be the CM can also be taken soon. State Director General of Police Arun Kumar Sarangi said that many Chief Ministers and other VIP leaders including the Prime Minister are coming to the swearing-in ceremony. We are making other arrangements including security. The Special Protection Group (SPG) has already arrived. We are deploying adequate security forces for security.

At the same time, Odisha BJP chief Manmohan Samal gave a statement on the selection of the Chief Minister after returning from New Delhi on Saturday. He said wait for two more days. Narendra Modi will take oath as Prime Minister for the third time on Sunday, after which the BJP Parliamentary Party can select the Chief Minister of Odisha in its meeting.

Samal said- I am not in the race for the post of Chief Minister

“I went to Delhi to attend a meeting to select NDA parliamentary party leader and Lok Sabha leader. All the newly elected MPs of the state were present there. We also took part in other party programmes held in Delhi,” Samal said at the airport. He said as Odisha BJP president he was coordinating with all stakeholders in making arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony.

Journalists asked Samal whether he was in the race for the post of Chief Minister, to which he replied, “I am not. I am fulfilling whatever responsibility has been entrusted to me.”

These three names are being discussed in the race for the post of Chief Minister

Let us tell you that among the strongest contenders in the race for the post of Odisha Chief Minister, the names of Sambalpur MP and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and former state BJP president and newly elected MLA from Patnagarh KV Singh Deo are in discussion. Pradhan is considered the face of BJP in the state and comes from the OBC category. At the same time, Dev is a five-time MLA. He worked as a minister in the Naveen Patnaik cabinet for nine years between 2000 and 2009. Apart from these two, the name of tribal leader Mohan Majhi is also in discussion. Majhi has been elected from Keonjhar seat.

BJP got 20 out of 21 seats in Lok Sabha

Let us tell you that BJP won a majority in the elections by winning 78 seats out of the 147-member Odisha Legislative Assembly. At the same time, it won 20 out of 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha.
