The Supreme Court on Monday dealt a blow to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. The court rejected Shivakumar’s petition in which he had sought the cancellation of the case filed by the CBI against him in the alleged disproportionate assets case. It is said that Shivakumar had objected to the case being filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act and had asked the Supreme Court to end the investigation. However, the Supreme Court rejected his petition.
The Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Bela Trivedi and Justice SC Sharma said that they are not ready to interfere in the order of Karnataka High Court, hence the petition of Shivakumar is dismissed.
It is worth noting that Shivkumar had earlier approached the Karnataka High Court to get the CBI case quashed. He did not get any relief from the High Court then. The High Court had asked the CBI to complete the investigation and submit the report within three months.
