Students are very angry about the rigging in the result of medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024. Now the matter of irregularities in the NEET entrance exam has reached the Supreme Court, which is being heard today. The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA) and sought a reply.

this is the petition

Amid reports of NEET UG question paper leak, a group of candidates approached the Supreme Court demanding a fresh NEET-UG 2024 exam. Alleging irregularities, a petition has been filed in the court that the NEET UG 2024 result should be withdrawn and the exam should be conducted again. Let us tell you, the NEET exam was held on May 5 and the result was declared on June 4. Since then, many complaints have surfaced, in which there were talks of paper leak.

Refusal to ban counseling

Students also got a shock from the Supreme Court during the hearing on Tuesday. The vacation bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah refused to stop the counseling of the passed candidates for admission in MBBS, BDS and other courses. At the same time, it also refused to cancel the examination.

The vacation bench told the NTA, “It is not that simple. Because you have got it done, the entire process cannot be questioned. The sanctity has been affected.”

Advocate Mathew J Nedumpara, appearing for the petitioners, requested the bench to stay the counselling process. However, the apex court refused to stay the counselling process and fixed July 8 for hearing the case. The bench said, ‘Let the counselling begin, we are not stopping the counselling.’

need to answer

The bench issued notice to NTA on the petitions demanding the exam. The court said that the sanctity of the examination has been affected, so the NTA needs to respond. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS and AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country.

The apex court clubbed the plea filed by Shivangi Mishra and others with the pending petition and asked the NTA to file its reply in the meanwhile. The petition alleged that NEET-UG, 2024 was rife with malpractices as various cases of paper leaks have come to the notice of the petitioners.

Demand to withdraw the result and conduct the re-examination

Since the results have been announced, students have been protesting in every corner of the country. In this petition, the demand has been made to withdraw the results and conduct the exam again. At the same time, a demand has been made to investigate the rigging in the exam results. It was further said that NTA has given arbitrary grace marks. The petitioner expressed apprehension and said that the fact has come to light that 67 students giving the exam at a particular center have been given full marks up to 720. The petition further said that the NEET exam was held on May 5 and since then many complaints have surfaced in which there were talks of paper leak.

This petition was filed in the Supreme Court by Abdullah Mohammed Faiz and Shank Roshan Mohiddin, residents of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It was said in the petition that this petition has been filed for the interests of the students and a request has been made to the Supreme Court to stop the counseling of NEET UG 2024 till the investigation is done in this matter. Let us inform you that two petitions are already pending in the Supreme Court in this matter and a request has been made to cancel the examination.
