Shanti Dhariwal News: After the protest organized by the Congress in Kota against issues like electricity, water, rigging in NEET exam and other issues, the cases filed by the Kota Police against local Congress leaders and workers including the state president and the leader of opposition are being protested.
Former minister and MLA from Kota North Shanti Dhariwal, condemning the action of Kota police in filing cases against Congress leaders after the protest, has written a letter to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma saying that the opposition has always been warning the government but as soon as the BJP government has come to power in the state, the police is trying to crush the opposition’s movement on public interest issues. This is an insult to democracy.
Shanti Dhariwal accused the CM
MLA Shanti Dhariwal said that it is a healthy tradition of democracy that the government does its work and the opposition tries to alert the government through agitations by playing its role on public issues, but whenever Congress workers are raising public interest issues, the police is trying to suppress the agitation by filing false cases. Public issues cannot be suppressed by police lathi.
He further said, “Chief Minister, I urge you to immediately curb the futile attempts being made to usurp the rights of the opposition in democracy. During the previous Congress government too, many protests were organised by the opposition but the Congress government always respected the role of the opposition in democracy.”
‘…then there will be another big movement’
We never tried to crush their movement, this is the healthy tradition of democracy which is our duty to follow. The false cases registered by Kota police after the Congress protest on June 24 in Kota clearly show the working style of Kota police, how Kota police is trying to intimidate Congress workers by adopting a biased attitude. If the cases registered against Congress leaders and workers are not withdrawn, then we will once again raise public interest issues strongly as the opposition by organizing a big movement on the land of Kota.
