Samsung Preparing to Start Laptop Manufacturing at Noida Plant This Year

South Korean consumer electronics company Samsung will start manufacturing laptops in the country by the end of this year. The company’s factory is in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Samsung smartphones are manufactured in the country. Along with the sale of these smartphones, they are also exported. Samsung laptops are manufactured in China and Vietnam.

In a media report, TM Roh, President of the company’s mobile division, has been quoted as saying that Samsung is preparing to manufacture its laptops in the country. He said, “Noida is an important production base for Samsung. It is the second largest base for the company. Some changes can be made in this factory as per the international demand.”

Last year the Central Government laptop Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme 2.0 with an incentive of Rs 17,000 crore was approved to promote manufacturing of IT hardware like tablets in the country. It is expected to produce products like personal computers, servers, laptops and tablets worth about Rs 3.35 crore in six years. American company Apple, which has a major share in the premium smartphone market, has also planned to increase manufacturing in India. The company has prepared to shift a large part of its manufacturing in China to India. Last year, Apple also opened two retail stores in the country. These stores are getting good response. A large number of Apple’s suppliers are in China and the company is planning to reduce its dependence on China. Apple started manufacturing of iPhones in the country in 2017.

HP, another big company making computer devices, has also partnered with technology company Google to make Chromebook laptops in the country. Chromebooks will be manufactured at HP’s factory near Chennai in Tamil Nadu. in this factory company It has been manufacturing desktops and laptops for about three years. ‘Make in India’ is being promoted by the government. Because of this, many global technology companies are setting up their units in the country or are exploring the possibility of partnership with Indian companies.
