White House Statement: The White House has accused Russia of killing its own soldiers. On Thursday, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that entire Army units were under pressure to retreat from Ukrainian fire and artillery. They are told that if they do so they will be killed.
According to US national security officials, these actions reflect the weak morale of the Russian military, which has been at war with Ukraine for the past 20 months. Kirby described the execution of soldiers for disobeying orders and the threats made against the entire unit as barbaric. He said that such actions indicate poor performance and haphazard handling of the army by Russia’s military leaders. John Kirby did not provide any information regarding the soldiers killed in the war that could confirm this.

Russia has not yet commented on the White House’s claims. US President Joe Biden is continuously trying to get the aid money for Ukraine passed by the Parliament. A day after the White House statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Ukrainian troops had caused significant damage to the Russian army and that 2,000 to 5,000 soldiers of the Russian brigade had lost their lives in the attack.
“Russian troops made several unsuccessful attempts to surround Avdiivka, but the Ukrainian army pushed back the Russian troops,” the Ukrainian president’s office said.
