According to American media reports, Donald Trump had called Russian President Vladimir Putin and appealed for a ceasefire with Ukraine. However, even Trump’s call to Putin did not work out and on Sunday, Russia and Ukraine carried out the biggest drone attack on each other. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia fired 145 drones into Ukraine overnight, the largest drone attack ever. Zelensky appealed for help from Western countries. Russia said that on Sunday, a drone attack was carried out by Ukraine targeting Moscow, out of which 34 drones were shot down. Russia said that this was the biggest attack attempt on the capital Moscow since the war started in the year 2022.
Trump had claimed to stop Russia-Ukraine war
Donald Trump had claimed in his campaign during the presidential election that he had the ability to end the Russia-Ukraine war. This is the reason why when Trump won the presidential elections, he started trying for a ceasefire. Under this, Trump called Russian President Putin and appealed not to escalate the conflict with Ukraine. However, it is clear from the latest attack that the matter has not been reached yet and it is feared that till Trump is sworn in in January, hardly anything concrete can be done.
Trump’s stand is completely opposite to that of the Biden government because the Biden government has given billions of dollars of military and economic aid to Ukraine in the war against Russia. Now that Trump has won in America and it is certain that the Democratic Party government will be gone, the support Ukraine gets from America has also come into question. America’s current National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan has also warned against stopping economic and military aid to Ukraine. At the same time, Russia also termed Trump’s peace efforts as a positive sign.
