Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Wednesday announced that there is an investment opportunity of Rs 60,000 crore from the Railways in West Bengal. During this, he revealed that currently 61 projects are stalled in the state due to issues related to handing over land to Railways. He stressed that the TMC government will have to rise above politics to complete these projects. Is needed.

‘The schemes will be completed with the cooperation of the state government’

After inaugurating several railway projects and train services at Sealdah station, the Railway Minister said such investments would be possible only when the state government cooperates. He also mentioned that there are 26 km of metro railway projects where work cannot proceed due to land issues.

‘There should be no politics regarding railway projects’

Speaking to reporters after the Swachh Bharat event at Braithwaite & Company Limited, where she also inspected the PSU, Ashwini Vaishnav stressed the need to give priority to the welfare of the people. He further said that development is the need of the hour, there should be no politics regarding railway projects. If the state government supports us, these 61 pending projects can be taken forward rapidly for the welfare of the people.

Railway Minister gave information regarding armor

Addressing concerns about railway accidents, he noted significant progress in safety measures, including the completion of Kavach 4.2. Railway Minister said- The development of important armor for railway safety has now been completed. Kavach 4.2 has recently been implemented in Kota and Sawai Madhopur, covering approximately 2,000 km of railway tracks and 900 locomotives, ensuring safety measures on a large scale.

Railway Minister compared NDA-UPA governments

Ashwini Vaishnav said the Railway Ministry thoroughly investigates the cause of every accident to address systemic and structural issues. Ten years ago, there were 171 accidents annually, but last year the number has dropped to 40 – a decrease of more than 60 percent. Under the UPA government, the average 450-500 derailments annually have now come down to around 80. This significant reduction is attributed to advances in technology, better maintenance practices and improved training for railway employees.
