Rohit Sharma’s coach prepared the player of the team that defeated Pakistan, made an upset in T20 World Cup

New Delhi. Host USA has shown a great performance in the ICC T20 World Cup. The team upset a team considered strong like Pakistan by defeating it. The team made it to the Super 8. Left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh, who is part of the US team that is performing brilliantly in the tournament, has revealed that Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s coach Dinesh Lad has played an important role in shaping his career.

Harmeet, 31, represented India in two Under-19 World Cups. He played for Mumbai in age group tournaments before moving to the US. He is now a member of the US team that made it to the Super Eight stage in its very first attempt at the T20 World Cup. Speaking to PTI, Harmeet said, “I would like to thank everyone who supported me in this journey and especially Dinesh Lad sir. My talent was first recognized by Lad sir who was my coach and mentor during my school days (Rohit Sharma studied in the same school).”

“Actually he was the one who advised me to join his school. There he gave me everything he possibly could,” he said.

Harmeet said that his progress would not have been possible without Lad. He said, “I joined Swami Vivekanand School. We broke many records, there was no cricket in the suburbs then, but now looking back it all seems like a dream. Whatever we achieved in school would not have been possible without the support of Lad Sir. The passion with which he worked on us and the dedication he showed by sending us to Shivaji Park Gymkhana for better training under Padmakar Shivalkar Sir and Praveen Amre Sir is commendable.”
