Rituraj retired hurt after playing 2 balls, career shaken by injury, lost place in Test team as well

New Delhi. Rituraj Gaikwad, who played the second match in the Duleep Trophy, has suffered a major setback. Rituraj, who is captaining India C, retired after playing only two balls. The matches of the second round of the Duleep Trophy started on Thursday. In these, India C and India B are facing each other. India A is facing India D.

India C defeated India D by 4 wickets in their first match of Duleep Trophy. But in the second match being played in Anantapur, India C suffered a setback in the beginning. India C captain Rituraj Gaikwad opened the account by hitting a four off Mukesh Kumar’s ball. After this, he played one ball and then retired hurt and returned to the pavilion. It is being told that his ankle got twisted while taking a run. Maharashtra’s Rituraj Gaikwad played an innings of 46 runs off 48 balls in the last match.

Rajat Patidar-Sai Sudarshan took over
Rajat Patidar came on the field after Rituraj Gaikwad returned to the pavilion. He along with Sai Sudarshan took charge of the team and took his team past 80 runs. India C had scored 81 runs without losing a wicket in 20 overs in the first session of the game.

Been troubled by injury before too
Rituraj Gaikwad was selected in the Indian Test team for the South Africa tour last year. Then he had to be out of the team due to a finger injury. Since then he has been out of the Indian Test team.
