Rishabh Pant will return to Test cricket after 633 days, last time he played a stormy innings against Bangladesh

New Delhi. Star cricketer Rishabh Pant is ready to return to Test cricket after a long gap. Pant will play his first Test match after almost two years. He gave a glimpse of his old game during net practice on Wednesday. He last played a Test match on 25 December 2022. Four days after this match, Rishabh Pant was badly injured in a car accident.

It has been 633 days since 26-year-old Rishabh Pant played his last Test match. Incidentally, he played his last Test against Bangladesh in 2022. He then played a brilliant innings of 93 runs in the Mirpur Test against Bangladesh and played an important role in India’s victory.

Jurel’s claim weakened as Pant arrived
After the Mirpur Test, Rishabh Pant is now set to make a comeback against Bangladesh on Thursday at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Meanwhile, many contenders emerged to replace him in the team, but none could secure their place. This year, Dhruv Jurel impressed with his wicket-keeping and batting against England. However, as soon as Rishabh Pant became fit, Jurel’s claim weakened.

Gambhir told why Pant is important…
Coach Gautam Gambhir said in the press conference, ‘We all know how destructive he (Pant) can be and what he can do in Test cricket. He has scored runs everywhere around the world. It is important to have a player like him in any team. A player who can pave the way for victory in the match and most importantly, he can also make a lot of impact.’

A stormy innings was played in Duleep Trophy
Rishabh Pant returned to international cricket after the IPL. He was also a part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup. However, this will be his first appearance in Test cricket after the car accident. Pant recently demonstrated his ability by scoring 61 runs in 47 balls while playing for India B in the Duleep Trophy match. He took five catches in the second innings of this match.
