The capital has become a gas chamber. In such a situation, the people of Delhi are in trouble. Delhi remained the most polluted in NCR on Monday. The air quality index (AQI) here was recorded at 421. Although a decline of 33 points was recorded compared to Sunday, people did not get respite from pollution.

The air was in severe category in 24 areas including Jahangirpuri and Wazirpur. A blanket of smog was visible since morning. The overall air quality in Delhi was recorded in severe category. More or less the same situation is expected to persist till Thursday. After Delhi, the air of Greater Noida remained more polluted in NCR. The fourth phase of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is in force in Delhi.

Highest AQI in Jahangirpuri

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI was recorded in the severe category in 24 areas in Delhi on Monday. At the same time, a decline was recorded in four areas as compared to Sunday. The air was very bad in five areas. In this, 458 AQI was recorded in Jahangirpuri, 455 in Wazirpur, 453 in Patparganj, 450 in Punjabi Bagh, 447 in RK Puram, 445 in Rohini. AQI was recorded in severe category in many areas including 439 in Mundka, 433 in Anand Vihar. The AQI was in the very poor category in six areas, including 398 in DTU and 362 in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Wind may reach dangerous category by Thursday

According to the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), on Monday the winds blew from west-northwest and north-east direction. During this period the wind speed was 4 to 8 kilometers per hour, which is a very low speed. Winds are expected to blow from north-west direction on Tuesday. During this period the wind speed will be 4 to 10 kilometers per hour. In such a situation, the air is expected to reach dangerous category. At the same time, there is a possibility of smog in the morning. On Wednesday the winds will blow from the north-west direction. The wind speed is expected to be 4 to 12 kilometers per hour. The wind may reach dangerous category by Thursday. According to Safar India, the amount of PM 2.5 in Delhi was recorded at around 249 on Monday, which is in the poor category. The amount of PM 10 was recorded at around 389, which is a very poor level.
