Redmi Note 11S is a 4G phone. You will not get 5G connectivity in it. Its most special feature is its 108-megapixel camera. Xiaomi has launched this smartphone at a price of Rs 16,499, which is commendable. All the features that you would like to see in the smartphones launched in this segment in 2022 are present in this phone. The phone is yet to go through many of our tests, but we will definitely tell you here how happy this device has made us at first glance.
Design of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 11S 5G The phone matches the Redmi 11 which was the first smartphone in the Redmi 11 series. The company launched it a few months ago in the same price range. However, the Redmi Note 11S gets a quad camera setup. Apart from the 108-megapixel main sensor, this phone has an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The 16-megapixel front camera in the phone is fitted in a hole-punch cutout. A chrome ring is provided above the lens.
Redmi Note 11S The design of the phone is not very attractive. Its white and blue color variants may look a bit different, but the black unit I have looks quite dull in color. Despite having a matte finish, stains and dust are easily visible on it. The body of the phone is made of plastic, but it feels good when held in the hand. As always, Xiaomi has provided an IR emitter, as well as a headphone jack, which is a good thing.
The phone has a 6.43-inch full-HD Plus (FHD+) AMOLED display. This is better than the Note 11T 5G, which had an LCD panel. The refresh rate is 90Hz and the peak brightness is 1000 nits. Thanks to the OLED panel, blacks look deeper, the color gamut becomes wider, which makes the video viewing experience good. The phone has stereo speakers, which has now become an essential feature for most Redmi smartphones.
MediaTek Helio G96 processor has been given in Redmi Note 11S, which gives us Realme 8i It was also seen in. Apart from this Realme Narzo 50 The same processor is seen in the Redmi Note 10 Pro as well. The processor is built on the older 12nm fabrication process, so it is not as power efficient as the recent MediaTek Dimensity or Qualcomm processors on the surface. It can also be underestimated by the Snapdragon 732G of the Redmi Note 10 Pro. However, this processor is counted among the powerful chips and to know more about its performance you will have to wait for its review.
The 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of Redmi Note 11S is priced at Rs 16,499 in India. At the same time, its 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 17,499, and the top end variant with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage has been launched at Rs 18,499.
The device has a dedicated microSD card slot, with the help of which storage can be increased. It has a battery of 5000mAh capacity and also has 33W fast charging support. A charger of this capacity is also available in the retail box. The phone has an IP53 rating for dust and water resistance. Apart from this, it comes with a side mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 11.
In the short time I used the Redmi Note 11S, the build quality of the phone is good. The design is not attractive, but it probably won’t matter much after applying the case. For me it is a matter of consideration how the Redmi Note 11S can fit into the company’s current lineup. We know that 5G The launch of Redmi Note 11E is confirmed and the phone has been introduced in the global market. In India, this phone can be launched under the name Redmi Note 11E. If you are looking for a 4G only Redmi smartphone, then Redmi Note 10 Pro It is still a good option, which comes equipped with better features than the Redmi Note 11S.
I can’t give my final verdict until I’m done testing the Redmi Note 11S, so stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for the full review.
