New Delhi. Now recycling of old roads will be easy and economical. Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) has invented Rejupave technology. To repair old roads using this technology, a 5 to 10 cm layer of tar is placed on the road, which raises the road. In this process, a large amount of gravel and talc is required every year in the country. Excessive use of both natural resources has a negative impact on the environment.

CSIR, CRRI and Verma Industries have developed Rejupave technology to remove the tar layer and reuse up to 60% of the material. Apart from this, the cost will also be reduced. CRRI has used this new technology to build a 1 km long National Highway in West Bengal. This is the first highway in the country where this new technology has been used. 5000 to 6000 commercial vehicles pass through this road every day. The country’s reputed road construction companies Cube Highways, Marcoline, VR Technique, Saras Infrastructure have been involved in the construction of this road.

Dr. Satish Pandey, the chief scientist of CRRI who developed this technology, says that till now 30 percent of the tar material was reused in the country, but with the Rejupave technology, up to 60 percent of the material can be reused.

He says that the cost of the road made using this technology will be 40 percent less than the normal one. This way money will be saved. Along with this, the thickness will be more and it will be stronger. This technology has other advantages as well. This technology is completely eco-friendly. The technology is based on bio-oil.

Helpful in conserving natural resources

The technology will help in conserving natural resources. At present, tar is imported, but with this technology, the use of tar can be reduced. In road construction, stones are broken and pebbles are made, but with the help of technology, natural resources can be saved by reusing the material.

Totally Indian technology

This technology has been developed by CSIR-CRRI and Verma Industries and is completely Indian. This indigenous technology is also cheaper than the imported technology.
