Realme on Wednesday, August 23 launched its latest 11 series, including the mid-range Realme 11 5G. Realme 11X 5G The more affordable 11X 5G comes with a sleek and lightweight design. The new smartphone is the first phone in the Realme product lineup to come with the new Purple Dawn color option. Apart from this, the smartphone has the recently launched 6nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset. The starting price of Realme 11X in India has been kept at Rs 14,999. Online retailer Flipkart is also offering a bank offer on the purchase of the smartphone, which will help early customers save Rs 1,000. Let’s see what impression the smartphone gives at first glance.

Starting with the design, the body of the Realme 11X 5G is made of polycarbonate, but the finish of the back panel looks like glass. When light falls on the panel, glitter effect and lines resembling the letter ‘S’ are visible, which the company calls ‘S-curve Gradiant’ design. We have the Purple Dawn color variant of the phone for review, which shows shades of blue and purple when light falls on it. The good thing is that despite having a reflective panel, fingerprints are not visible in it.

There is a large circular camera module on the rear panel, which includes two camera sensors and a flash unit. Realme 11X comes with a boxy design. The company calls it ‘right angle bezel design’, which is designed for a comfortable grip. Despite the glass finish, it does not slip much from the hand, but still if you feel a little scared, you can use the black tinted silicone cover that comes in the phone box.

The device has a fingerprint sensor on the power button itself, which worked fast without any hassle in my initial use. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port and speaker grille at the bottom and a triple slot tray on the left side of the frame, which can accommodate two SIMs and a microSD card. Realme says that its storage can be expanded up to 2TB.

The Realme 11X 5G gets the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset, which was launched in July this year. This is a chipset built on 6nm process and works on 8-cores. With this chipset, the smartphone should do good multi-tasking and casual gaming. However, you will have to wait for our review to know the full truth of the performance. The 11X 5G has been introduced with 6GB and 8GB RAM options and 128GB storage.

The Realme 11X 5G gets a 6.72-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display, which claims to offer a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz. It supports a peak brightness of up to 550 nits. In the initial time spent with the phone, I found that the display was bright enough in both indoor and outdoor lighting conditions. The colors were also vivid. There are three options to adjust the display refresh rate – 120Hz, 60Hz and an Auto-Select, which automatically adjusts the refresh rate based on the content running on the screen. My initial display experience on the auto-select option was good.

In my short time with the phone, the display gets bright enough for indoor use but is not easily readable when used outdoors during the day. It delivers good colours and is quite sharp. The 120Hz refresh rate also aids in a smooth user experience.

The dual rear camera setup of the smartphone gets a 64-megapixel main sensor with f/1.79 aperture. I took a few pictures with this sensor and found that the pictures were good enough to upload directly to Instagram in good lighting. The camera can record videos up to 1080p 30fps. The setup also has a 2-megapixel portrait sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Features like 64MP mode, Night mode, Street mode, Text scanner, Tilt Shift were present in the camera app. Even though the phone falls in the affordable segment, there are few models in the competition that give you an ultrawide lens in this price range.

The Realme 11X 5G gets an 8-megapixel front camera, which took good photos in daylight. However, we will give you all the details, from post-processing to the quality of both the rear and front setup, in our full review.

The 11X 5G gets a 5,000mAh battery, which supports 33W fast charging. You get a 33W charging brick inside the box. In initial usage, this battery easily lasted me a full day. However, you will have to wait for our review to know how well this battery performs in heavy usage as well as how long it takes to fully charge it.

Talking about the software, the Realme 11X 5G runs on Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0. On first boot, I noticed a lot of bloatware in it. However, most of these apps can be uninstalled. I was not spammed by notifications in my initial usage.

The smartphone comes with almost all the basic connectivity options, such as 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/ A-GPS and USB Type-C port. It measures 7.89mm thick and weighs 190 grams.
