Jharkhand Dry Day News: Preparations for the assembly elections are going on in full swing in Jharkhand. Voting will be held here in two phases on 13th and 20th November, while the result will be announced on 23rd November. Due to this, ‘dry day’ has been announced for three in the state capital Ranchi. Here the sale of liquor will be completely closed on the days of voting and counting i.e. 13, 20 and 23 November.
The noise of campaigning regarding the first phase of elections in Jharkhand has stopped on Monday (11 November). In the first phase, voting will be held on 43 seats in the state. Voting will be held on these seats on 13 November. On the last day, leaders of all parties participated enthusiastically in the campaign, held rallies and targeted the opponents. The fate of 683 candidates will be decided in this phase.
Fate of 73 women candidates will be decided
According to news agency IANS, in the first phase, six seats are reserved for SC and 20 for ST. Whereas the number of general seats is 17. There are 87 candidates from national parties, 32 from recognized political parties of Jharkhand, 42 from recognized parties of other states and 188 from unrecognized registered parties on the seats in this phase.
Apart from this, there are 334 independent candidates. The fate of 73 women candidates is also to be decided in the first phase. There is also a third gender candidate in this phase. A total of 15,344 booths have been set up on these seats, where a total of 1 crore 37 lakh 10 thousand 717 voters will decide the fate of 683 candidates standing in the election fray. In the first phase, the total voters include 68 lakh 73 thousand 455 men, 68 lakh 36 thousand 959 women and 303 third gender.
When is dry day?
There are many reasons behind declaring a dry day in any state. Dry day is often observed on occasions related to national festivals and religious festivals. On national festivals, liquor shops are closed to honor soldiers, martyrs, freedom fighters and on religious festivals due to religious sentiments.
Apart from this, sometimes due to law and order, dry day is declared in the city or state. Similarly, when elections are held in any area, that day is declared a dry day in that area. This decision is taken regarding law and order.
