Rampur News: In Rampur Tehsil Shahbad, a gang of nomads riding together in an e-rickshaw robbed a soldier’s wife of Rs 10 lakh in broad daylight while she was going to a wedding. After hearing the commotion, the villagers chased and caught five people including a woman and a girl from the spot. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and started investigating.
CISF Raju, a resident of village Paigambarpur in Shahbad Kotwali area, said that his wife Mamta lives in her maternal home in village Ganjhera Alam of Thakurdwara in Moradabad. Raju’s nephew is getting married in the village in the month of July and auspicious ceremonies are to begin from July 2. Mamta left her maternal home on Sunday to go to her in-laws’ house to attend it.
Police arrested five people
After coming to Shahbad by bus, she boarded an e-rickshaw from Chandausi trisection to go to the village. Some nomads boarded the e-rickshaw from Chandausi trisection itself. After travelling some distance, one of the accused started cutting the chain of the bag kept on the roof of the rickshaw. When the woman got suspicious, she caught the accused and raised an alarm. The woman alleges that she had her jewellery in her hand and the accused snatched it from her but he escaped from the spot by pushing and shoving with the help of his companions. Hearing the noise, all the villagers gathered and they ran and caught five people but the youth who stole the jewellery could not be caught. The police have taken five accused into custody.
According to the woman’s husband Raju, the accused looted gold jewellery worth about Rs 9 lakh including a necklace, a maang ka tikka, four bangles, a nose ring and two earrings and silver jewellery worth more than Rs 1 lakh including an axe, a pair of anklets, three pairs of toe rings. According to CO Sangam Kumar, a woman had come from Thakurdwara. On the way, some people took out jewellery from her bag. When the woman saw this, she raised an alarm. Some of these people have been caught. There was a main accused, he has also been caught by the police. Some recovery has also been made from these people. A case has been registered. Further action is being taken.
