Later, as soon as the Lok Sabha proceedings began, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of NEET and along with opposition MPs demanded a discussion on the matter. Speaker Om Birla insisted that the motion of thanks on the President’s address be discussed first.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘We wanted to give a joint message to the students of India on behalf of the opposition and the government that we consider this issue important. Therefore, we thought that out of respect for the students, we will discuss NEET today.’
