Putin agreed to ceasefire with Ukraine, but placed this condition

Russia-Ukraine War: Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to ceasefire with Ukraine, but he has put a condition for this. According to AP report, Putin said that the war can stop if Ukraine withdraws its army from the occupied areas and gives up its plan to join NATO.

Putin said that he has put such a condition so that a final solution to this war can be found. In his speech at the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow, he said that Russia is ready for talks without delay.

What demands has Putin made?

According to AP’s report, the Russian President has put forward many more demands for restoring peace between the two countries, which include non-nuclear status of Ukraine, restrictions on its military forces and protection of the interests of people speaking Russian. Putin said, “All these should become part of fundamental international agreements and all Western sanctions against Russia should be lifted, only then a ceasefire can happen.”

‘Time to turn the painful page of history’

The Russian President said, “We are urging to turn the painful page of history and restore unity between Russia, Ukraine and Europe.” However, no new demands have been made by Russia. Russia has already made such demands to stop the war.

This comment by Russian President Putin has come amidst the G7 summit being held in Italy. Earlier on June 8, Putin had ruled out the use of nuclear weapons to win the war in Ukraine.
