The Princess of Wales is to attend two Remembrance Day events this weekend, it has been announced.

Buckingham Palace said Kate would attend both the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph and the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday.

Officials also said the Queen’s appearance at the events would depend on medical advice nearer the time, with the royal unwell with a chest infection.

The 77-year-old was forced to pull out of engagements earlier this week.

The announcement comes after Prince William described the past year as “brutal” and “probably… the hardest year in my life” after his father and wife were diagnosed with cancer.

The Princess of Wales made her first public appearance since ending cancer treatment last month when she joined her husband on a royal visit to Southport.

In a video released in September, Kate said she had finished chemotherapy and was “looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months”.

However, she added her focus was “doing what I can to stay cancer free“.

The King, who recently completed his first long-haul overseas trip since his own cancer diagnosis, will lay a wreath of poppies at the base of the Cenotaph during Sunday’s ceremony.
