Priest takes bath with boiling milk, then prediction happens, unique tradition on Govardhan Puja

Sonbhadra: An ancient and unique tradition is performed on the occasion of Govardhan Puja in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. Every year a special puja is organized on this day at the Veer Lorik site situated on Markundi hill, in which priest Rajendra Yadav takes bath with boiling milk. To see this, a large number of devotees gather here, who come here to be a part of this special event.

During Govardhan Puja, at the Veer Lorik site, located about ten kilometers away from the district headquarters, many pots are filled with milk and boiled on fire. After this, the priests take bath one by one with hot milk kept in these pots. During the puja, the priest shows reverence by taking his head and body near the fire in the Havan Kund, which leaves the devotees present astonished. This event takes place in front of hundreds of people and the crowd to watch it continues till the puja ends.

Predictions are also organized
At the end of the puja, the priest also gives predictions on future events in the country, which the devotees listen to with eagerness. During this time, Prasad of boiling milk is also distributed, for which enthusiasm is seen among the devotees. Local people believe that it is a symbol of power and devotion, and participating in it brings blessings.

Historical importance of Veer Lorik site
Veer Lorik Sthal has its own historical importance, and situated on the Varanasi-Shaktinagar road, it becomes a major religious place during the time of Govardhan Puja. Thousands of devotees reach here every year, and a Bhandara is also organized at the end of this puja.
