Suheldev Express going from Ghazipur City to Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal derailed at Prayagraj Junction on Tuesday night. The accident happened around 8.50 pm at Delhi Outer of the junction. During this, the engine of the train and the generator vehicle behind it derailed. It is a matter of relief that no passenger was injured in this accident. Meanwhile, after receiving the information, DRM Himanshu Badauni and other officers reached the spot. Railways has also set up an investigation regarding the accident.

Suheldev Express reached platform number nine of Prayagraj Junction at 8.25 pm on Tuesday night. After its scheduled stoppage the train moved towards Kanpur. The train had just reached Delhi Outer Junction when suddenly a loud noise was heard. During this time people saw clouds of dust flying there. On reaching the spot, it was found that Suheldev’s engine and the coach behind it had derailed.

After the incident, sirens started ringing there. As soon as they heard the sound of the siren, all the railway officers ran towards the accident site. As soon as the control room got the information, DRM Himanshu Badauni and other senior officers reached Prayagraj Junction. On the instructions of the control room, Accident Relief Train (ART) also reached the spot.

During this period, train operations on the Delhi-Howrah main line were stopped for some time. However, since the matter was not very serious, the Delhi-Howrah route was later opened for train traffic. It is being told that the speed of the train was very slow at the time of the incident. If the speed had been higher, a major incident could have happened there.

Engine and a coach separated at the junction

The engine and one coach of Suheldev Express were cut into pieces as they derailed. By 10.15 pm the remaining trains were sent back to the platform. Meanwhile, trains like Prayagraj Express, Rewa Express, Mahabodhi Express etc. were pulled out from the junction.

Passengers got off the train and thanked God

After the derailment of Suheldev Express train, all the passengers sitting in it got out. Surendra Singh, who was going from Jaunpur to Anand Vihar, told that he was in the coach next to the generator vehicle. When the accident happened, a loud noise was heard. At first I could not understand anything, but when I got down and looked, I came to know about the whole situation. Similarly, Vivek Aggarwal, who was coming from Ghazipur in the train, told that when the train derailed, there was some sound and a slight shock was also felt. It was God’s grace on all of us that no major accident happened. Similarly, Ramashankar Yadav of Prayagraj, who was going to Anand Vihar, said that thanks to God only one coach derailed.

Suheldev left for Anand Vihar at 11:35 pm, Humsafar Express got late.

After the accident, the rail traffic coming from Delhi Outer to platform number six was blocked. Because of this, Prayagraj-New Delhi Humsafar Express could depart after 11:15 pm. After adding the new engine, Suheldev Express left for Anand Vihar at 11.35 pm.

No one was injured in the incident. An investigation is being conducted to find out what caused the incident. Only after the investigation report comes, it will be clear why the train derailed. Traffic of other trains is normal at the junction.
