There has been a political uproar over the shifting of the statue of great donor Maharaja Harsh Vardhan to another place before the organization of Maha Kumbh in Sangam city Prayagraj. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav tweeted on this matter two days ago and called the replacement of the statue an insult to philanthropist Harsh Vardhan, while today his party workers washed the statue with Ganga water and garlanded it. Akhilesh Yadav and his party have also announced that after forming their government in UP, Harsh Vardhan’s statue will be installed at the old place.

It is noteworthy that years ago, a statue of Maharaja Harsh Vardhan, about twenty one feet high, was installed at the entrance of the place where the Kumbh area begins in the Sangam city of Prayagraj. The people of the city knew this place as Harshvardhan Square. These days, in view of Maha Kumbh, a flyover is being constructed there. The road is being widened at the place where the statue was installed under the flyover. For this reason, four days ago the idol was removed from there and shifted to a park located at the intersection outside CMP Degree College, about half a kilometer away. The statue has been shifted, while the work of installing the stone slab and beautification of the park is going on in full swing.

After the statue was shifted, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav raised questions by tweeting. He said that the Yogi government has insulted Maharaja Harsh Vardhan by removing the statue from its original place. He has written in his tweet that whenever Samajwadi Party government is formed in UP, this statue will be installed back at the same place."text-align: justify;">On the instructions of Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party workers reached the site of the statue today and washed the statue of Maharaja Harsh Vardhan with Ganga water. After being washed with Ganga water, they garlanded it and also raised slogans against the Yogi government. Protest leader Sandeep Yadav says that the Yogi government has insulted Maharaja Harsh Vardhan. The people of Samajwadi Party will not tolerate this at all.
