New Delhi. Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamir, who spent the night in jail on spot-fixing charges, has announced his retirement. Aamir said that he will be available for selection in the Pakistan team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. A day before Aamir, all-rounder Imad Wasim had also announced his retirement and return to international cricket. Aamir had announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2020. Aamir played his last T20 International match against England in 2020.

31-year-old fast bowler Mohammad Amir wrote on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, ‘I still dream of playing for Pakistan.’ Life brings us to a point where sometimes we have to reconsider our decisions. There have been some positive discussions between me and the PCB, where they respectfully made me feel that I am needed and that I can still play for Pakistan. I declare that I am available for the upcoming T20 World Cup. I want to do this for my country because it comes before my personal decisions.

Imad took U turn from retirement after 4 months
35-year-old all-rounder Imad Wasim had announced his return to international cricket on Saturday (23 March), saying that for him the country comes first. Imad said, ‘I am happy to announce that after meeting with PCB officials, I have reconsidered my retirement and I am happy to announce my availability in T20 International cricket for Pakistan cricket. This path will lead to the T20 World Cup 2024. I want to thank the PCB for showing confidence in me. For me Pakistan comes first. T20 World Cup will be organized in June. Its matches will be played in West Indies and America. Imad had announced his retirement in November 2023.

Mohammad Aamir took 10 wickets in PSL 2024
Mohammad Aamir recently played in Pakistan Super League 2024. He took 10 wickets in 9 matches. Aamir was a part of Quetta Gladiators team in PSL. After careful consideration, PCB has called back both the players from retirement. Keeping in view the T20 World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board is expressing confidence in experienced players. Both these players are excellent bowlers.
