ICC has announced the winners of the ‘Player of the Month’ award for the month of December 2023. Australia captain Pat Cummins was named the best male cricketer of the month. Whereas, among women, India’s Deepti Sharma was successful in winning this award. Cummins bowled brilliantly in his team’s victorious Test series against Pakistan. Whereas, Deepti Sharma left her mark in the matches against England and Australia. He has received the ‘Player of the Month’ award for the first time.
Cummins was at the forefront of Australia’s Test success over Pakistan in December. He performed well in captaincy and bowling. Last year, under the captaincy of Cummins, Australia won the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup. Cummins bowled dangerously against Pakistan in the second Test played in Melbourne last month and took 10 wickets. The Australian captain took five wickets each in both the innings. He prevented Pakistan from winning by taking five wickets for 48 runs in the second innings. Mohammad Rizwan became his 250th victim in Test.
