Paris Olympics 2024 will officially begin today on Friday 26 July with a historic opening ceremony on the Seine River. India will be a part of this important occasion. The opening ceremony of Paris Olympics 2024 will take place at 11 pm Indian time. It will also be available for live streaming and broadcast in India. For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony is not being held inside the stadium.

The program will run for so many hours
The traditional parade of nations will take place along the Seine river, which flows through the historic French capital. In the ceremony, more than 10,000 Olympians aboard around 100 boats will sail down the Seine river and past some of Paris’ iconic landmarks, including Notre Dame, Pont des Arts, Pont Neuf, etc. The floating parade will start from the Austerlitz bridge next to the Jardin des Plantes, ending at the Trocadero, where the final show of Olympic protocol will take place. The event is scheduled to last more than three hours.
PV Sindhu-Sharath Kamal will become the first players to become the flag bearer of India
Two-time Olympic medallist badminton star PV Sindhu and table tennis legend Sharath Kamal, who is set to compete in his fifth Olympics, will lead the Indian contingent at the Paris 2024 Games of Nations. Both the players will become the first athletes from their respective sports to be India’s flag bearers at the Olympic opening ceremony. The Indian contingent returned from Tokyo 2020 with seven medals, including javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra’s first athletics gold. In Paris, a total of 112 athletes from the country will compete in 69 medal events across 16 sports.

French theatre director and actor Thomas Jolly is overseeing the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies as artistic director. The Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony will start at 11 pm IST in India. Indian viewers can watch the live telecast of this ceremony on Sports18 1 SD and Sports18 1 HD TV channels.
