The Parliament of Pakistan, which is facing a financial crisis, on Friday approved a budget of Rs 18,877 billion for the financial year 2024-25. However, the opposition opposed it. The opposition alleged that this is a budget given by the IMF, which is harmful for the public.

Bilawal Zardari got approval with the support of Bhutto’s party

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb moved the resolution for the approval of the House, which was approved with the support of Pakistan Peoples Party led by former Foreign Minister Bilawal Zardari Bhutto. According to the budget, gross revenue receipts are estimated at around Rs 17,815 billion, which includes tax revenue of Rs 12,970 billion and non-tax revenue of Rs 4,845 billion.

However, the states’ share will be around Rs 7,438 billion. While the growth target during the next financial year was set at 3.6 percent. The budget has estimated inflation at 12 percent, budget deficit of 5.9 percent of GDP and primary surplus of one percent of GDP.

Opposition said- public interests have been ignored

Leader of Opposition in Pakistan National Assembly Omar Ayub, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Gohar Ali Khan and Sunni Ittehad Council leader Ali Muhammad together opposed the budget and said that public interests have not been kept in mind while preparing this budget.
