CPEC Project: These days, talks are going on between China and Pakistan to take forward the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Recently, a meeting was held between the officials of both the countries on this issue. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is also going to visit China soon. According to Pakistan’s media, this visit of Shahbaz Sharif is related to the second phase of the CPEC project. During this, Shahbaz will discuss about the loan for power projects and the relationship between the two countries.
Such statements are coming from leaders in Pakistan that China is going to make a big investment in their country. On the other hand, in an article in The Dawn newspaper, Pakistani business and economy journalist Khurram Hussain has raised questions on this whole atmosphere. He said that Pakistanis should not expect much from China at the moment. Khurram has said in his article that if anyone thinks that China is once again preparing for new investment in Pakistan, then understand that nothing like this is going to happen. He said that this revival noise around CPEC is actually a way to hide the reality of the country.
No statement came from China
The Pakistani journalist said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is not heading towards any revival, this can be said because no such statement has come from China. He said that one thing worth noting in Pakistan-China relations is that whatever is being said in Pakistan should not be considered correct until an official statement comes from China.
China is not showing interest in investing in Pakistan
Khurram Hussain said that China has many channels to speak on this, but China has maintained silence on CPEC. He said that a report was published in Chinese news agency Xinhua on May 29, in which Shahbaz Sharif’s CPEC issue got a lot of coverage, but there was no statement from China in the entire report. He said that this shows the low interest of the Chinese side due to Pakistan’s economy, unstable politics, security challenges and other problems.
