Kargil war: Along with the Indian Army, the whole of India celebrates India’s victory in the Kargil war on 26 July every year as Vijay Diwas. This is the same date when the Indian Army drove away the Pakistani soldiers and captured all the peaks of Kargil. This was a huge victory for India. The importance of this victory increases further because by that time Pakistan had also become a nuclear-powered country. Despite this, the Indian Army fought the war strongly without any pressure and won. Experts on Pakistan call this war the biggest mistake of Pakistan. They believe that Pakistan has not been able to recover from this war even today.

Pakistani journalist Arzoo Kazmi has talked to Pakistani expert Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed on her YouTube channel about the Kargil war. During this, Ishtiaq said that Kargil was such a war from which Pakistan has not yet recovered. Dr Ahmed said that in May 1998, both India and Pakistan conducted nuclear tests and officially both countries became nuclear powers. After this, the leaders of both the countries decided that now there can be no war with nuclear weapons, so both the countries should come on the path of peace.

Pakistani general refused to salute
Ishtiaq Ahmed said that going on the path of peace was a big step for both the countries, most of the credit for this goes to the then Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee. But credit for this should also go to Nawaz Sharif. He said that in the year 1999 when the Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee came to Pakistan, the then General of the Pakistani Army, Pervez Musharraf, refused to salute and later became the ruler of the country by doing a coup. At that time it became clear that the army of Pakistan is not under the control of the government. Along with this, at the behest of ISI, Jamaat-e-Islami also threw stones at Vajpayee.

Pakistanis infiltrated during the winter months
Dr. Ahmed said that Vajpayee’s visit to Pakistan was very successful. The Lahore Agreement was signed between the two countries and a new relationship began. But after Vajpayee returned, it was discovered a few months later that the Pakistani army had infiltrated some areas of Kargil. The Indian army used to return from Kargil in the winter months, which the Pakistani army took advantage of. This makes it clear that while the Prime Minister of India was strengthening relations between the two countries, at the same time the Pakistani army was plotting against India in Kargil.

Pakistan had described its soldiers as Mujahideen
Ishtiaq Ahmed said that what the Pakistani generals did made Pakistan an untrustworthy country in the whole world. No one could trust a country which on one hand was pretending to be friendly and on the other hand was occupying the territory of a friend. After this war, Pakistan was proved to be a cunning country to the whole world. India also deployed cannons and air force in the battlefield, but there was no response from Pakistan. This made it clear that despite having the nuclear bomb, Pakistan could not muster the courage to fight directly. During this time, Pakistan washed its hands off the matter by calling its army Mujahideen, but this made it clear that Pakistan does not respect its army either.
