Pak court acquits Imran Khan, Qureshi and Sheikh Rashid in case of vandalism

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has got a big relief from the court. The court has acquitted Imran Khan, his companion Shah Mehmood Qureshi and former minister Sheikh Rashid in a case related to violence and vandalism.

What is the whole matter?

This case is of the year 2022, when a case was registered against Imran and his associates at a police station in Islamabad. It was alleged that all of them violated Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Let us tell you that after the toppling of Imran Khan’s government in April 2022, many allegations were leveled against him. After this, the PTI party started protests and took out a big rally in May 2022. This rally was led by Imran Khan. As soon as the protesters entered Islamabad, violence broke out and government properties were damaged. After this, Islamabad Police registered separate cases against Imran Khan and party leaders. After the protest, the police arrested at least 39 people.

Two PTI leaders including the three top leaders were also acquitted

Judicial Magistrate Malik Muhammad Imran, while giving the verdict in this case, acquitted the three senior leaders Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Sheikh Rashid. Along with this, two more leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sadaqat Abbasi and Ali Nawaz Awan have also been acquitted. This decision has brought great relief to Imran Khan and his allies.

Imran Khan was convicted in several cases after stepping down from office in April 2022. He has been serving a jail sentence since August last year.
