On Sunday, a 2.5 lakh litre overhead tank built under the Gangajal Project near BSA Engineering College in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, collapsed. This water tank was built just a year ago. Two people died after being buried under the debris. While more than 15 people are injured. Many people are feared to be still buried under the debris. More than a dozen vehicles are also buried under the debris. Rescue is underway.

The incident took place in the park located in Krishna Vihar Colony at around 6 pm. The incident caused chaos in the area. On receiving the information, the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police reached the spot. They inspected the spot. They said that a case will be registered against those responsible. The concerned officers are busy taking action.

It was told that the tank was built two years ago under the Gangajal project. The pillars had become weak due to leakage. People had also complained about it. But no one listened to it. The Agra firm had built this tank at a cost of six crores under the supervision of Jal Nigam. The CM has summoned a report of the incident.
