Oppo A57 is a new selfie smartphone that is aimed at budget conscious smartphone buyers. It is a phone in the under Rs 15,000 category. And it has Oppo F1s ,Review) also has many features.

Oppo F1s has proven to be a very good and capable selfie smartphone. And now it’s time to see how Oppo A57 Whether it is able to give similar performance or not. Oppo A37 This upgraded variant of the Oppo A57 features an upgraded processor, more RAM and more internal storage along with a new version of Android. Let’s take a closer look at the Oppo A57 in our review.

Oppo A57 design and build quality
The design and build quality of the Oppo A57 is quite similar to the F1s as both the phones have a similar design. However, it is a slightly better phone than the F1s and this is also due to its lower price. The build quality of the phone is still strong due to the metal frame, although the Oppo A57 feels made of plastic. The lack of backlit capacitive buttons on the phone is disappointing. The home button on the Oppo A57 is also capacitive and has a fingerprint sensor integrated in it. The matte texture on the rear makes the phone grip good.

The Oppo A57 has a 5.2-inch IPS display with HD resolution. Due to which the text looks clear and the images also look sharp when viewed from a normal distance. We liked the brightness in the phone and the phone can be read well even in sunlight. The colors are well saturated and the viewing angle is also good. Oppo has used Gorilla Glass 4 but a screen guard has already been installed in the phone. Apart from this, an additional screen guard will also be available in the box of the phone.

There is a SIM tray on the right side of the Oppo A57 that can be used for two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card (up to 256GB). The separate SD card slot allows users to use two SIM cards whenever they want. The phone has a standard Micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom. There is no other protrusion for the camera on the rear of the Oppo A57 except for a thin ring around the camera lens.

The Oppo A57 is slim, light and easy to use. In the box, you will find a micro-USB cable, charger, earphones, case, screen guard, SIM ejector tool and some manuals.

Oppo A57 specifications and features
The Oppo A57 has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor. If we talk about performance, it is almost similar to the MediaTek 6750 given in the Oppo F1s. The phone has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Talking about other specifications of the Oppo A57, it has features like Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n (single band), FM radio, USB, OTG and GPS. VoLTE and 4G support is also available on all Indian bands.

The Oppo A57 runs ColorOS 3.0 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The interface runs pretty well despite the necessary customizations. The phone still has iOS influences but it is more rigid like Vivo’s custom OS. The notification shade now has two pages, toggle switches and app alerts have been separated. Oppo has given a custom app store in the phone. Apart from this, O-Cloud is also provided for backup and gestures for using the phone with one hand and turning off the screen. The phone also has Google Suite with Duo and some third party apps like Facebook, Instagram and Amazon.

Oppo A57 performance
Light games run smoothly on the Oppo A57. The phone gets slightly warm when using the camera for a long time. On average, we found 1.4 GB of RAM free on the phone which is very good for keeping the phone running smoothly.

The fingerprint sensor works well and it quickly recognizes the fingerprint. The fingerprint sensor can also be used to lock apps and files. The phone can play videos up to 1080 pixels and high-bitrate flac files can also be played from the stock music player. Talking about the speaker in Oppo A57, the sound is not very loud for media when there is noise but it is fine for alerts and ringtones.

Talking about the camera, the Oppo A57 smartphone has a 16-megapixel front and 13-megapixel rear camera like the Oppo F1s. The front camera takes great pictures in good light. Selfies can be seen sharp and with detail. However, pictures taken in low light with the Oppo A57 appear a bit scattered. The screen flash is also not very good, so don’t expect a very good picture unless you keep the phone very close to your face. The beauty mode has a background blur filter. Other modes in the Oppo A57 include panorama, video and time-lapse.

The rear camera of Oppo A57 takes good landscape and macro shots with detail in daylight. Colors look good and focus speed is also good. Performance in low light is average. The Oppo A57 can record video up to 1080p and the quality is also good. Shooting modes include Ultra HD mode which lets you take four photos simultaneously. Apart from this, expert mode, filters, GIF and double exposure are included.

The Oppo A57 has a 2900mAh non-removable battery that lasts a full day on a single charge. In our HD video loop test, the phone’s battery lasted 12 hours and 7 minutes, which cannot be called bad. The phone does not have fast charging, so the battery takes a while to fully charge.

Our verdict
At Rs 14,990, the Oppo A57 is a good package and has a lot in common with the Oppo F1s. But it is more affordable in terms of price, making it a better choice than the Oppo F1s. The camera performance in low light isn’t the best and basic features like backlit buttons and dual-band Wi-Fi are missing. But the good thing is that it has the same CPU, good build quality and a pretty good fingerprint sensor.

Apart from this, another reason to buy Oppo A57 over Oppo F1s is the availability of Android Marshmallow. As stated by Oppo, Oppo F1s will remain on Lollipop. The same applies to Oppo A57 not getting Nougat update but at least for now this OS can be called new.

If selfies are not that important for you then at this price, Moto G4 Plus (Until Moto G5 comes into the market) it is a much better option. (Review) However, if you are waiting for the price of Oppo F1s to come down then Oppo A57 will be better in terms of features and performance.
