On the first death anniversary of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Canadian Parliament observed silence and honoured him like a martyr. Even after knowing that he was a threat to Canada’s security, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shed tears in Parliament on Nijjar’s first death anniversary. The way he was honoured is usually done to commemorate the contribution of people of great national importance.
India Today, citing Globe and Mail, carried an intelligence report which said that Nijjar was not only a threat to India but also to Canada’s peace and law and order. He was a matter of concern for the Canadian government. His bank accounts were frozen by the Canadian government and he was also placed on the no-fly list. He was also questioned in connection with the illegal arms training programme for Canadian Sikhs. The report revealed that Nijjar remained a major cause of concern for the Canadian government, yet the Trudeau government is celebrating his death anniversary.
