SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has demanded an investigation into the train fire incident in Etawah. In a post on social media, Akhilesh Yadav said that the cause of the fire is being said to be gas cylinder. He said that unauthorized permission of gas cylinder is also a serious matter of corruption, due to which the lives of passengers are put at risk. He demanded punishment of the culprits.

Let us tell you that three coaches of the New Delhi-Darbhanga Special Express were damaged in a fire near Etawah on Wednesday (15 November) evening. Etawah Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjay Kumar said that four persons suffered minor injuries. He said that according to preliminary information, there is no information about any passenger getting burnt. The fire broke out at 5:30 in the evening. The cause of the fire could not be immediately known. Black smoke was seen coming out from the train bogies.

A police officer present at the spot said, “In this incident, one coach was burnt to ashes, two coaches adjacent to it were partially damaged and the fourth coach was filled with smoke.” All four coaches were separated from the train. Many passengers lost their luggage in the incident, he said. He said that after receiving information about the fire, fire tenders were sent to the spot. “An ambulance and a team of doctors are present at the spot,” he said.

Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway Himanshu Upadhyay said that the guard at Sarai Bhupat Junction near Etawah saw smoke coming from coach number S-1 of New Delhi-Darbhanga Special Express. He said, “The train was immediately stopped and all the passengers were taken out. Everyone is safe and there is no news of any casualty yet.” He said, ”A major accident was averted today by alert railway officials.”

Railways is making arrangements to accommodate the affected passengers in the remaining coaches of the train. Once the train reaches Kanpur, additional coaches will be added to it to ensure comfortable travel of the passengers. Another senior railway official said that the train left from Etawah for Kanpur at 8.18 pm.
