Scorching heat is prevailing in many parts of the country including North India. There are chances of severe heat due to Nautapa which will last for nine days from 25th May. During this time, the mercury can reach 48-50 degree Celsius in some areas. The Meteorological Department has also issued a red alert for heat wave in six states. So far 60 people have lost their lives in the country due to severe heat and heat wave. Meanwhile, the demand for electricity reached a new record with 239.96 GW on Friday.
Beginning of Nautapa
According to astrology, Nautapa has started with the Sun entering the Rohini constellation on 25 May. It will last till 2 June. During this time, the Sun is very close to the Earth and its rays fall directly on the Earth. Due to this, there is severe heat. Also, it is believed that if it does not rain during Nautapa, then there are signs of a good monsoon. If it rains during this time, then Nautapa is broken and it is considered an inauspicious sign for the monsoon.
Red alert of heat wave in these states
In many states including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, the mercury has already crossed 44 degrees. The Meteorological Department has warned of severe heat in Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh for the next five days. It has issued a red alert for heat wave for Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana. In these states, the nights as well as the days will be very hot. Phalodi of Rajasthan was the hottest place in the country. Here the temperature reached 50 degrees Celsius on Friday. At the same time, the mercury was recorded at 48.8 degrees in Barmer. The mercury was 53 degrees Celsius on the India-Pakistan border near Jaisalmer.
