Mumbai terror attacks 2008 accused Tahawwur Rana extraditable to India from America says US attorney

Rahul Rana : Preparations are underway to bring Pakistani-origin Canadian citizen Tahawwur Rana, who is involved in the Mumbai terror attacks, to India. Tahawwur Rana is accused of being involved in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. US Assistant Attorney Bram Alden told the court that Tahawwur Rana can be extradited to India under the provisions of the India-US extradition treaty. The US government had approved the Indian government’s request to extradite Tahawwur to India, but Rana had filed a petition against it in the US district court, due to which Rana’s extradition was stuck. Now during the hearing, US lawyer Alden told the court that Rana can be extradited to India under the provisions of the treaty.

Wires are connected to Pakistan and Canada
Pakistani-origin Canadian Tahawwur Rana (63) is currently lodged in a Los Angeles jail. Rana is accused of being involved in plotting the Mumbai attacks. Tahawwur Rana’s name is linked to Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley. Headley has admitted this in his statements several times. Headley had come to Mumbai to do recce. In this terrorist attack, 166 people were killed and 239 people were injured in Mumbai. The terrorists had attacked the Taj Hotel, several bars, restaurants and Chabad House. Among those killed were 6 Americans. Terrorist Ajmal Kasab was caught alive, who was later hanged. Now the court has accepted the US government’s request to extradite the accused to India. Now he can be brought to India soon.

American lawyer argued in court
While presenting arguments in the court on June 5, American lawyer Alden said that both India and America have agreed on the provisions of the treaty. Rana, who is currently lodged in a Los Angeles jail, is facing charges of his involvement in the Mumbai attacks. In the meantime, he had filed a petition in the court against extradition, which has been rejected.
