The case is from Mumbai, where a doctor was lured to invest in the stock market to get high returns with the help of a deepfake video of Mukesh Ambani and the doctor lost seven lakh rupees in this fraud.

Ayurvedic doctor K K H Patil, who lives in Andheri, Mumbai, saw a video on the social media platform Instagram. Mukesh Ambani was shown in this video with the help of deepfake technology. In the video, high returns were claimed on investing in shares with the help of BCF Investment Academy, a branch of a company named Rajiv Sharma Trade Group. Seeing the misleading video, Dr. Patil got impressed and contacted the mentioned company. After which the female doctor was made to deposit Rs 7.1 lakh in various 16 bank accounts in April. In return, the doctor was lured with Rs 30 lakh, but when the doctor wanted to take back the money, she came to know about the fraud committed against her. After this, she complained to the police.

Police filed FIR

Mumbai’s Oshiwara police have registered an FIR against an unknown person in this case. Mumbai Police says that a case has been registered under sections 419, 420 of IPC and section 66 (D) of IT Act after the 54-year-old doctor lost more than Rs 7 lakh in a ‘share market scam’ between April 15-17. The doctor alleges that she saw industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s deepfake reel on Instagram about investing and got influenced by it. It is alleged that the doctor was added to a WhatsApp group through a link, assured of profits, asked to download an app and made to deposit money in various accounts.
