Haj Pilgrims Death: At least 550 pilgrims who went to Saudi Arabia for Hajj from all over the world have died. The cause of death is said to be extreme heat. Two Arab diplomats told AFP that at least 323 of the dead were Egyptian citizens, most of whom died due to heat-related diseases. One diplomat said that ‘all Egyptians died due to heat’, except one person who was seriously injured after being pushed in the crowd. He said that the death figures were received from the mortuary located in Al-Muaisim in Mecca.

AFP reported that according to reports from various countries, the total number of deaths has risen to 577. Diplomats said that at least 60 Jordanian citizens have died. While the official number given by Amman on Tuesday was 41. Diplomats said that a total of 550 deaths were confirmed in the mortuary of Al-Muaisim, one of the largest mortuaries in Mecca.

The condition of many people is very bad and ambulances are not available.

The number of sick people has not been updated since Sunday
The Saudi National Meteorology Center said temperatures at Mecca’s Grand Mosque reached 51.8 degrees Celsius (125 Fahrenheit) on Monday. Saudi officials have said more than 2,000 pilgrims suffering from heat have been treated. But the figures have not been updated since Sunday, raising speculation that the number of deaths and illnesses could be higher. Last year, various countries reported the deaths of at least 240 pilgrims, most of them Indonesians.

Hajj pilgrims pouring water on their heads
AFP journalists in Mina, outside Mecca, on Monday saw pilgrims pouring bottles of water over their heads as volunteers distributed cold drinks and fast-melting chocolate ice cream to keep them cool. Saudi authorities have advised pilgrims to use umbrellas, drink plenty of water and avoid going out in the sun during the hottest hours of the day.

Haj pilgrims arrived without registration
Some pilgrims said that they saw many dead bodies lying on the roadside. Ambulance services in Saudi Arabia have collapsed. According to Saudi officials, this time around 1.8 million pilgrims have participated in Hajj. Out of these, 1.6 million are foreign nationals. Saudi officials said that to avoid expenses, many foreigners have come to perform Hajj without Hajj visa, due to which the system has collapsed. They are not getting the facilities available for Hajj pilgrimage, due to which they are dying.
