Mohammed Shami takes 5 wicket haul for the fourth time in the World Cup, breaks the record of Australia’s ‘most dangerous’ bowler

New Delhi. The magic of Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami was also seen during the semi-final match of the World Cup 2023 played against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Shami took 7 wickets in his name. This is the third time in the current World Cup that Shami has taken five or more wickets in a match. Shami has reached this big record in the World Cup for the fourth time in the 50-over World Cup. With this, he has destroyed the big record of Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc. He had taken five wickets in the World Cup thrice in his career.

On the basis of excellent bowling, the Indian team has defeated New Zealand and entered the final of the World Cup 2023, where Rohit Sharma and Company will face the winner of Semi-Final-2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Australia’s spin bowler Adam Zampa has also taken five wicket hauls thrice in the World Cup 2023. Captain Rohit Sharma had not expressed confidence in Shami during the initial matches of the World Cup. He was not given a chance in the playing-11. In his place, Shardul Thakur was given a chance as an additional all-rounder. Shami got a chance in the league match against New Zealand and he surprised everyone by taking five wickets.

Shami took 2 wickets in 3 balls
While defending the target of 398 runs, India had taken two wickets of New Zealand cheaply. After this, a partnership of 181 runs was made between captain Kane Williamson and Darrell Mitchell for the third wicket. Looking at the speed at which both were scoring runs, it seemed that the Kiwi team would not give up the match so easily. In the 33rd over, Shami got Williamson, who was playing after scoring a half-century, caught out by Suryakumar Yadav. New batsman Tom Latham also got out LBW in Shami’s over with a personal score of zero after making two balls.
