Shravani Mela 2024: The State Shravani Mela Festival-2024 has started on Guru Purnima. Minister Mithlesh Kumar Thakur inaugurated the State Shravani Mela Festival by breaking a coconut and chanting Vedic mantras. In his inaugural speech, he said that the devotees coming to Basukinath Dham will not face any difficulty. All the necessary facilities have been provided to the devotees of Baba Basukinath. Minister Mithlesh Kumar Thakur assured to make Jarmundi a sub-division. He said that Jarmundi MLA and former minister Badal Patralekh has placed the proposal before the Chief Minister.

It is expected that soon Jarmundi will be known as a subdivision. He appealed to the local people for their participation in the successful organisation of the fair. Mithilesh Thakur wished well for the country and the state. Jarmundi MLA Badal Patralekh said that the government and the district administration are ready to serve the devotees. The facilities of the devotees will be taken care of. The fair will be conducted successfully with the cooperation of the local people. He said that Basukinath has received a fire fighting vehicle as a gift from the Chief Minister.

State Shravani fair begins

In his welcome address, Deputy Commissioner of Dumka Anjaneyulu Dodde said that it is the priority of the district administration to facilitate the Kanwariyas to offer water. Accommodation has been arranged for 4000 people. Tent city, accommodation centers have been built for the devotees. 70 health workers have been deployed in the fair area along with ambulances. About 500 sanitation workers have also been deputed.

Presentation of cultural programmes

The Geet Bahar Dal enthralled the people with their excellent presentation of cultural programmes. The guests were welcomed with bouquets and souvenirs. Commissioner Santhal Pargana Lalchand Dadel, former MP Abhaykant Prasad, Block Pramukh Basanti Tudu, President of Panda Dharmarakshini Sabha Manoj Panda and other priests of the temple were present in the programme.
