Micromax has recently launched its new flagship smartphone Canvas 6 And Canvas 6 Pro These two smartphones were introduced in a big launch event held in Gurgaon last month along with the company’s new logo and branding. Budget smartphone maker Micromax has made a strong lead in the Indian smartphone market. Now the company wants to beat its Chinese competitors like Xiaomi and LeEco who have created a lot of disruption in the budget segment on the basis of features, design and price.

Other companies are launching smartphones equipped with high-resolution screens, top CPUs, fingerprint sensors and metal bodies at very low prices. On the other hand, Micromax has presented 4 GB RAM as its trump card. Almost all phones in the category below Rs 10,000 have only 2 GB RAM. Today we will review Micromax Canvas 6 Pro with 4 GB RAM and find out whether this feature of Micromax really makes the phone special or proves the company wrong?

Look and design
Canvas 6 Pro can be called the best looking phone of Micromax till date. Good material has been used in this phone instead of the poor quality material used in the company’s previous products. There is a matte plastic shell on the rear and the edges do not give a very premium feel. But the black glass front edges make the phone comfortable to hold. Overall, the design of the phone looks good and you will be happy with this phone.

The front of the phone is tough but the on-screen buttons provide relief. On the front, the phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 3, front camera and notification LED. On the right side are the power and volume buttons. At the bottom is the micro-USB port. At the top is the 3.5mm audio jack.

The rear of the phone looks similar to HTC’s older Windows Phone 8 models. The textured rear cover is removable. There is the rear camera and flash at the top center. Below this is Micromax’s newly designed logo and at the bottom is the speaker grill.

The battery can be removed from the phone by removing the rear cover. After removing the battery, a microSD card and a nano-SIM and a micro-SIM card slot can be seen. On purchasing Micromax Canvas 6 Pro, you will get a charger, cable, headset, screen protector and microfiber cloth in the box.

Specifications and software
Micromax has given MediaTek Helio X10 processor (MT6795M) running at 2 GHz in its new smartphone priced under Rs 15,000. Apart from this, this phone is in the headlines with 4 GB RAM. The phone has 16 GB storage and can be expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card.

Micromax Canvas 6 Pro has a 5.5 inch screen with 1080×1920 pixel resolution which can be called good for this price. The phone has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. The phone supports LTE in both SIMs. For connectivity, the phone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.1 and USB-OTG. The phone has a 3000 mAh battery.

This phone does not have features like fingerprint sensor, quick charging, infrared, NFC. Whereas other smartphones of this price now come with these features. It seems that the company is considering 4 GB RAM as a unique feature for Canvas 6 Pro. Perhaps that is why the company has made a little compromise in other specifications.

Talking about the software, there is a lot of special things in the phone. The Canvas 6 Pro runs Android 5.1 with a custom skin on top that looks a lot like stock Android. All the icons look different but they don’t look bad. SwiftKey comes pre-installed and is set as the default keyboard. Apart from this, more than 20 apps like Clean Master, CM Security, CM Locker, multiple shopping apps and browsers and some trial games come pre-loaded. All the apps can be uninstalled except Micromax’s own App Center, M! Live and M! Account.

The most special thing about Micromax is its Around feature. First of all You Utopia ,Review) This feature is not seen as an app but is in the launcher itself. By swiping the homescreen to the left, you will be able to see the Around screen. There are many category icons and search bar at the top while there are Google Now-style cards at the bottom.

Performance
Like other Micromax smartphones, the software of this phone does not cause much problem. There is no problem with the hardware of the phone while doing most of the tasks. Although this is not the most powerful hardware till date, but today’s mid-range smartphones are also very powerful. It cannot be said whether 4 GB RAM makes a big difference in the phone or not. But we did not face any problem in the phone and there was no problem in switching and opening multiple apps.

The screen is bright and crisp but the glass reflects a lot which can be a turn off at times. Colours are good and the brightness is also decent enough for daylight usage. The Micromax Canvas 6 Pro feels good to use. But the phone gets a little warm while using the camera and gaming.

The phone performed well in our benchmarking tests. However, it is not a flagship-killer. In our video loop test, the battery lasted 6 hours and 41 minutes, which is disappointing by today’s standards. With normal use, we were able to use the phone for a full day on a single charge. But if you play games, do a lot of browsing and record videos, you will need to charge the phone by evening.

The camera of the phone is not good at all. Even in good sunlight, the pictures come out without any detail and are scattered. The pictures look completely artificial and sometimes there is no focus, making the pictures unusable. Even at night the pictures come out blurry and a lot of light is required for good pictures. The front camera is okay for close-up selfies.

Our verdict
Micromax has introduced a new brand with Canvas 6 Pro. Canvas 6 Pro is the first phone in a series of smartphones that strengthen the company’s hold in the Indian smartphone market. This smartphone is completely different from the company’s first smartphone. In simple words, everything from material to design has been changed in this Micromax phone compared to the previous one. Micromax is thinking about the user.

The performance of the phone is good but it cannot be called great. The phone has shortcomings like poor battery life and heating. The poor camera disappoints the most. Overall, Micromax has presented 4 GB RAM as the main feature of the phone in the mid-range. This feature will definitely attract customers. Personally, we would have no problem buying a phone with 2 GB RAM with good battery life and other features.
