Man succumbs week after mob attack in Bengal, third such death in three days

A person injured in a mob attack in West Bengal’s Jhargram district died a week later. Police said that a youth named Saurabh Saw was beaten up by unidentified people, following which Saurabh died during treatment on Sunday.

According to the police, Saurabh Saw was found lying injured on a road in Jamboni area near Jhargram on June 22. After which he was taken to the hospital where he died on Sunday. Police registered a case against unknown persons on the basis of a complaint lodged by Saw’s family on June 27.

However, Saurabh’s family has accused the men of a contractor of attacking him. The attackers had alleged that Saurabh had tried to steal some parts of an earth mover parked on the roadside. After which the mob started beating Saurabh.

Third death in three days due to mob lynching in West Bengal

This is the third death due to mob attack in West Bengal. Two other similar incidents took place in Kolkata and nearby Salt Lake on 28 and 29 June. Where two people lost their lives due to mob attack. Two youths were beaten to death by a mob in Kolkata and nearby Salt Lake on the charge of stealing a mobile phone.

Giving information in the case, the police had said that the incident took place in Polnait area after midnight, three people were arrested in connection with this incident. At present, the police is questioning everyone in the case and further investigation is being done. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Prasen Mandal, who died before being taken to the hospital.
