Maldives News: Maldives has resumed the use of Dornier aircraft and helicopters provided by India for emergency medical services. Maldivian media published such reports on Saturday, it is being told that this step has been taken after the withdrawal of Indian soldiers who were previously operating these aircraft. President Mohammed Muizzu has thanked India for enabling the resumption of emergency medical services.
According to Maldives news portal Edition MV, Maldives National Defense Force told the local media that emergency medical services have been started once again with the help of Dornier aircraft and helicopters. The news reports that this time the emergency service is being operated by Indian civilians. Earlier, Dornier aircraft and helicopters were operated by Indian military personnel. This service was discontinued after Mohammed Muizzu became the President in November last year. Mohammed Muizzu had to face heavy opposition in the country for this step.
Maldives does not have capable pilots
Mohammed Muizzu is seen as a pro-China leader. As soon as he became the President, Muizzu had talked about returning the Indian military personnel. 10 May was the last date set for the return of Indian soldiers. After which there was a deep tension between the two countries. After several meetings between the two countries, it was agreed to deploy civilian personnel in place of military personnel, because India had not taken back these planes. On the other hand, the soldiers of Maldives are not capable of flying these planes.
Indian aircraft are deployed at three places
Maldives news portal Addhadhu reported that Dornier aircraft are being operated in Hanimaadhoo, while helicopters are being operated in Laamu Kadhoo and Seenu Gaan. Indian personnel are deployed at all three places. On the occasion of the 59th Independence Day, the country’s President Mohammed Muizzu announced the resumption of operations of these aircraft during an official program.
