Maharashtra MLC Election 2024: 11 MLAs will retire from the Maharashtra Legislative Council on 27 July. The MLAs were elected to the council through voting by the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly members. The Central Election Commission has announced the schedule for the election of these 11 seats. According to the strength in the assembly, currently 9 candidates of the Mahayuti (NDA) and 2 candidates of the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) can win.

Everyone’s eyes are fixed on who will Congress give a chance. Congress leaders of Maharashtra will attend a meeting in Delhi to decide the strategy for the assembly elections. In this meeting, there may be a discussion on who will get the candidature in the Legislative Council elections. Names of some Congress leaders are also in discussion.

Whom will Congress give a chance?
According to ABP Majha, both Wajahat Ather Mirza and Dr. Pragya Satav are retiring. It is expected that both will get another chance. Apart from this, the names of senior Congress leaders Naseem Khan, Muzaffar Hussain, Sandhya Sawlakhe, Bhiwandi Congress leader Dayanand Chorge and Suraj Thakur are being discussed. In the earlier Rajya Sabha elections, Congress had given a chance to Imran Pratapgarhi and Chandrakant Handore. Therefore, it will have to be seen whom Congress gives a chance this time.

Who will retire from the Legislative Council?
Vijay Girkar, Nilay Naik, Ramesh Patil, Ram Rao Patil, Mahadev Jankar from BJP, Anil Parab from Thackeray Group, Manisha Kayande from Shiv Sena, Dr. Wajahat Mirza, Pragya Satav, Babajani Durrani and Jayant Patil from Congress are retiring. The election process for these 11 seats has started. According to the plan of the Election Commission, voting and counting of votes will take place on July 12.

According to the current strength in the assembly, the Mahayuti can win 9 seats. In such a situation, two MLAs of Mahavikas Aghadi can win. It is being discussed that one of these seats will be occupied by Congress, while the other seat will be given to Jayant Patil from MVA. However, it remains to be seen whom the Congress gives a chance. Meanwhile, the seats of 12 MLAs appointed by the Governor in the Legislative Council are also vacant. Court proceedings are going on in this regard.
