Rajasthan News: Rajasthan BJP President Madan Rathod’s statement has come out on the statement of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He has agreed with CM Yogi’s statement. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Saturday that calling Gyanvapi a ‘mosque’ is ‘unfortunate’ and Gyanvapi itself is a true form of ‘Lord Vishwanath’.
Expressing his opinion on this, Madan Rathore said, “It should be clear from the name of Gyanvapi. If he has given such a statement, then he must have some information or knowledge but I would say that the word Gyanvapi itself makes it clear what it (the disputed site) is”.
What has Yogi Adityanath said?
Yogi made this remark while addressing the inaugural session of the international seminar on ‘Contribution of Nathpanth in the creation of a harmonious society’ at Deendayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University on Saturday, where he also highlighted the spiritual significance of the revered place of Kashi and Gyanvapi. He said, ‘It is unfortunate that some people call Gyanvapi a mosque, while it is the form of Lord Vishwanath himself.’

The Chief Minister also made an elaborate mention of the mythological sage Adi Shankara and narrated an anecdote about Shankara’s meeting with Lord Vishwanath in Kashi, where the deity appeared as an outcast person and tested Shankara’s understanding of Advaita. While narrating the anecdote, the Chief Minister described Gyanvapi as the visible manifestation of God himself.
What is the issue of Gyanvapi?
The Gyanvapi issue has long been at the centre of legal scrutiny, with the Hindu side arguing that the Gyanvapi mosque was built on the remains of a pre-existing temple, while the Muslim side has contested the claim. This is why the chief minister’s remarks have triggered a controversy of sorts, with the opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) targeting him over the issue, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and some seers from Ayodhya have supported him.
Supporting the chief minister, Mahant Raju Das of the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya said, “It is only unfortunate people who are calling Gyanvapi a mosque. It is Vishwanath himself, and Kashi is Vishwanath’s temple. Even if a blind person puts his hand on the structure, he will feel all the symbols of ‘Sanatan’. We have been saying continuously that it is a temple, only foolish people call it a mosque.”
