UP Lok Sabha Election 2024: There is a tussle over the alliance candidate for Bansgaon reserved Lok Sabha seat in Gorakhpur district of UP. On one hand, Kamlesh Paswan is contesting from this seat for the fourth time after winning the election from BJP thrice. While BSP gave ticket to former Income Tax Commissioner Dr. Ramsamuj, Sadal Prasad, who had faced defeat in the last two elections on BSP ticket from Bansgaon reserved seat, has changed the party and is contesting on Congress ticket. Now only Congress officials and workers are opposing him. They are demanding Congress to give ticket to Commando Kamal Kishore, who is close to the Gandhi family and has been the MP from Bahraich.

Sadal Prasad, a former BSP minister from Gorakhpur’s Bansgaon Lok Sabha seat, is the Congress candidate from the alliance. Congress also has a good support base in Bansgaon Lok Sabha seat. However, local Congress officials and workers are opposing Sadal Prasad. Congress workers and officials held a meeting in Kaudiram, Gorakhpur on Sunday. In the meeting, he has demanded to change the Bansgaon candidate of Congress.

He has also made serious allegations against District President Nirmala Paswan and demanded her removal. He says that there are many big leaders to contest elections on Congress ticket. Commando Kamal Kishore is a resident of this place. He has been an MP from Bahraich. Along with this, there are many Congress officials including Snehlata Gautam, who were hoping for their candidature from Bansgaon.

Congress workers allege that the top Congress leadership has given ticket to BSP cadre leader Sadal Prasad from Bansgaon reserved seat. District President Nirmala Paswan is completely responsible for this. He should have understood that some Congress official or worker should have got the ticket. BSP leader Sadal Prasad has been given ticket by including the top leadership in Congress. In such a situation, those people are opposing him. He says that there are Commando Kamal Kishore, Snehlata Gautam and many such senior Congressmen who had demanded tickets. He should have got the ticket, but it did not happen.

Bansgaon (reserved) Lok Sabha seat has a special identity because of the Rajputs of Shrinet dynasty. After the murder of Om Prakash Paswan, BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan’s mother Subhavati Paswan became MP in 1996 by winning the election on SP ticket. However, after facing defeat in two elections, she distanced herself from politics. His elder son Kamlesh Paswan took the blessings of Yogi Adityanath and contested the elections in 2009 and won. In the year 2014 also, BJP made him its candidate and after winning once again, he reached Parliament as a youth MP.

In the year 2019 also, Kamlesh Paswan won the election on BJP ticket. Now he is contesting elections from BJP for the fourth time. Kamlesh Paswan is one of the young MPs of the state. He has a bachelor’s degree. Born in a political family, Kamlesh has a son and two daughters in his family. There are five assembly seats in this seat. Chaurichaura, Bansgaon, Chillupar, Rudrapur, Barhaj. Presently these five seats are held by BJP.

What are the caste and political equations of Bansgaon?
UP CM Yogi Adityanath has strong influence on this seat. Behind BJP’s continuous success on this seat Yogi Adityanath Popularity is also a factor in this field. There are five assembly seats in this seat. Chauri-Chaura, Bansgaon, Chillupar, Rudrapur, Barhaj. At present, BJP has control over all five of these seats. The Scheduled Caste population in this seat is 28 percent, 97 percent of the population lives in villages.

According to the census of the year 20211, the population of Scheduled Caste here is 28 percent, Scheduled Tribe is 1 percent, Muslim is 6.39 percent. There are around 1.5 to 2 lakh Nishad voters here. Yadav voters are also in good numbers. The total number of voters in Bansgaon Lok Sabha seat is 21,96,918. There are upper caste voters – 5 lakh, OBC – 8.34 lakh, Dalit – 2.50 lakh, Muslim 1.50 lakh voters.
