LG Vinai Kumar Saxena takes cognizance on report of illegal migrants in Delhi

Delhi News: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has taken cognizance of the report of sudden increase in the number of illegal immigrants in Delhi. LG Saxena’s secretariat has written a letter to the Chief Secretary, Police Commissioner, MCD Commissioner and NDMC Chairman to immediately ensure measures to stop this.

A letter has been issued by the Principal Secretary stating that LG Saxena’s attention has been drawn to the reports on social media and other reliable sources. In which there has been talk of a sudden increase in the number of illegal immigrants in the capital Delhi. Such people are encroaching on roads, footpaths and parks. There is also news that preparations are underway to make Aadhaar cards and voter ID cards from the fake documents of these people.

It has been claimed in the letter that illegal immigrants are calling such documents as documents of citizenship. No Indian citizen can accept giving identity cards to illegal immigrants. At the same time, creating Voter ID can be a threat to national security.

Campaign can be launched to identify illegal immigrants

It further states that the Chief Secretary, through the Divisional Commissioner, can give instructions to the District Magistrates that more vigilance should be taken in the verification of those applying for identity cards. Apart from this, the Police Commissioner can direct the field level officers to be more cautious while inspecting the roadside and illegal encroachers on government land.

According to the letter, “Delhi Police conducted a special campaign for a month to identify illegal immigrants. For this, coordination can be established with central agencies. Following the directions of the Supreme Court, government agencies should ensure that there is no unauthorized occupation of public places anywhere in the city.
