Look and Design
This handset looks very similar to Vibe K4 Note. With the phone you will get a screen protector, plastic case, USB cable and headset. At first glance the screen appears very big. The power and volume buttons on the right side are a little too low for our liking. Due to the presence of hybrid SIM tray, you will be able to use dual SIM or only one SIM and microSD card at a time. There is a 21-megapixel rear camera at the back and a fingerprint sensor below it.
The battery is completely sealed in the aluminum unibody of the phone. The Vibe X3 is 9.3 millimeters thick at the centre. It fits perfectly in the hands. Since it weighs 175 grams, it will feel heavy.

Lenovo has managed to strike a balance between price and performance. It has Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, Adreno 418 graphics, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage.

The screen dimensions are 5.5 inches and the resolution is 1080×1920 pixels. This handset looks inferior compared to the flagship devices of other companies. But considering the price, this decision seems right. The 3500 mAh battery present in the device is expected to last for the whole day.

Lenovo has tried to make its Vibe UI cleaner, which we like. The new UI looks very much like stock Android. A separate app drawer is also provided in it. You’ll also have the option of customization, such as a quick access toggle and a unique log feature that shows older notifications you’ve dismissed. We found the icons a bit childish and you don’t even have the option to change them. Many of Lenovo’s apps will be pre-installed on the handset. The good thing is that you can remove most of these.

You also have many custom options. You can activate the phone by double tapping the screen, or lock it by flipping it.

Vibe X3 has a 21-megapixel rear camera which is equipped with phase detection autofocus. You can record videos in 4K resolution with it. The sensor of the front camera is 8 megapixels. Lenovo has promised that it has many features for photographers. Most of these are related to the software interface, but we didn’t like them much.

Lenovo’s custom camera app takes a little longer to load and is overly simplified. The app automatically detects lighting and adjusts itself. If you want, you can also disable it.

Photo quality was generally good, but daylight shots were overexposed and shaky at times. The colors looked quite dull. Low light shots came out fine. According to us, these are only for social media use. On the other hand, 4K and 1080p videos shot crisply.

The colors on the screen of this Lenovo handset appeared vibrant and engaging. There is no problem in outdoor visibility. Dual front speakers work well. They give loud sound but it is not very clear.

Vibe X3 is comfortable to hold in hands. The handset gave excellent results in benchmark tests. The Vibe X3’s battery lasted easily a day. In our video loop test the battery lasted 9 hours 33 minutes before completely discharging, which is less than we expected.

our decision
Lenovo has very clearly given the best specifications available in the market. The thing to keep in mind is that the price is also less than Rs 20,000. The Vibe X3 aims to take on the likes of OnePlus 2, Moto X Play and Nexus 5X. This time the company has laid more emphasis on user experience. We are amazed at how much Lenovo has managed to pack into this handset at this price. It is clear that many details have been taken care of in making the device.

If user experience is of utmost importance then Lenovo needs to make some more improvements. The Vibe X3 is very large and heavy, which means it is not that easy to hold and use. The camera disappointed the most. The hybrid SIM tray also does not work in this handset’s favour.

If you are willing to live with these pros and cons, then the Lenovo Vibe X3 is a ‘value for money’ handset.
